The Daddy’s Birthday

Yesterday we celebrated Alessa’s Dad’s Birthday (yes, his birthday is on 9/11). It was a fun day. We decorated our home with birthday props to surprise him when he came back from the office for lunch. Alessa was so excited with the balloons and everything, she thought it was her own party. We had a very happy afternoon together, just the 3 of us… the Daddy got spoiled by his girls, and we had the most delicious gooey nutella cake…yum!

Happy Birthday to the Love of my Life!

xoxo,
S

The 1st Birthday

Alessa in the morning of her first birthday. She was amazed by all the Hello Kittys hanging around her home!

As I’ve mentioned before here, my mom designs party tables at our hometown. Of course she was in the city for her granddaughter’s first birthday, sho she helped me put up all the scenery and prepare the yummy food.

We moved all the furniture from our living room and dining room, and created the party area there. I rented all these toys to create the playground for the kids.

Everything was made by us. The goodies included hello kitty shaped cookies, rice crispies treats, cupcakes, mini yogurt parfaits, mini rolled up sandwiches for the kiddos, mexican spicy candy, even hello kitty  shaped jicamas!

The party was originally going to be Owl themed. But since Alessa was 9 months old she discovered Hello Kitty, called her name and pointed every Hello Kitty she ever found with such an excitement, that I decided to hold the Owls for the next birthday and throw her a Hello Kitty galore party, so that she would enjoy it. And it was such a success. She couldn’t be happier.

Alessa had so much fun, she kept doing the #1 finger when she was asked how old she was? (I had rehearsed this with her for about 4 months haha). She ate her first cupcake and was fascinated by the sugar and flour, of course. She even said “cupcake” for the first time (ca-key ca-key) pointing to where the cupcakes were asking for more.

She played non stop with the other kids. It seemed as if she knew it was her party.

We all enjoyed her birthday party so much. It was such a wonderful day. Just close friends with their kids. They were like 8 kids total, but I surely couldn’t snap a photo of all of them together. It is hard when they are babies and toddlers running around the place.

I know she might not remember all that we did to celebrate her first birthday, but I still wanted to make her a small party to treasure in my memory forever. I can’t believe it has been a year already since I gave birth to this little munchkin. This party was the perfect way to finish up a first year of so much happiness and joy. Can’t wait to see what the journey of the next year will bring.

Watch me Grow: Alessa Month by Month, the 12th month!

My girl turned 1 year old a couple of weeks ago.

It has been an amazing year. The year where my life has changed the most. Getting to know Love from a whole new level. So deep and so unmeasurable and it just keeps growing as the days go by. Mommy love is the kind of love you are not able to describe. I’ve learned so much this year, especially I’ve learned that I have a strength I didn’t know I had, and fears that I didn’t know existed. Overall, it has been the best year in my life.

You, my sweet Girl, add what was missing in this house to make it a home. You have brought me and your daddy closer, I feel we are more in love than ever. You have brought so much beauty into our lives since your arrival. We can’t be prouder of the little girl you are growing to be. Happy first birthday to our sweet little sunshine!

ps. photos of her 1st birthday party coming soon

New York City!

We went to NYC last week, Alessa included. It was an amazing trip! she was a doll all the time, during the 5 hour flight and everyday staying up at restaurants until 10 pm or later without crying. I think we should travel more often with her!

Our plans included a family picnic in Central Park, the Central Park Zoo, a visit to FAO Schwarz, visiting other parks such as Madison Square Park playground, Union Square, a little bit of shopping, and walking and walking some more.

When I sat her by herself at the Imagine circle in strawberry fields at Central Park, many passersby started taking pictures of her and she waved hello to them!

She had a lot of fun watching the animals at Central Park Zoo with her Dad.

We packed these cute outfits for her to wear in her NYC trip, on which she got many compliments :)

They were great, although I had to buy her a sweater for the trip, since the weather was a little cold. Not what we expected at this time of the year.

As the pictures show, we had a great time. We loved taking Alessa to NYC since we have a special affection for the city. My husband lived there during 2 years, and we got engaged there back in 2007. And even though she probably won’t remember this trip with us when she grows up, we have these and many more photos to show her, along with some good stories to tell.

: )

Watch me grow: Alessa month by month

My little girl, 11 months already! I feel like every single day, you are growing up more and you seem happy to indeed be growing up so fast. You want to talk, you look at me very closely and paying so much attention to try to repeat words that I say. And every week or so you come up with a new word, or way of communicating, but you just WON’T say Mama. You call your Papa since you were 9 months old perfectly and clearly. And everyday you say Papa like 300 times, but no Mama. Not yet. I must tell you that I can’t wait to hear those little words. The first time that you call me Mama I am probably going to faint.
You are funny, sweet, very tender and loving. When I ask you to give me a hug, you lean your head in my shoulder and it makes me melt. You also give “hugs” to Magnolia, and you love sharing your snacks with her, it’s very funny. You have recently discovered and fallen in love with Hello Kitty, you call her “Kiki” and you get so excited when you see one, imediatly pointing at it and saying Kiki, Kiki. You give hugs to your Hello Kitty bath towel and stuffed toys. When you cry, in the middle of the melt down you cry for “Kiki”, it is so sweet.
With your first birthday approaching, I realize that time will keep on going this fast from now on for me. But I remind myself everyday to enjoy every little moment, as I watch you grow and become the little girl that you are, and try to imprint everything in my memory forever.
Happy 11 months my little Sunshine! We love you so much

Happy {Mexican} Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to my Beautiful Momma, who is a caring mom, a devoted wife, and the funnest Grandma!
I love you Mom!! I have learned so much from you over the years, and now that I am a Mother too I appreciate you more, for all the devotion and dedication in raising me and my brothers.

Happy Mother’s Day!!

And this is my first official Mother’s Day… I couldn’t be happier. I knew I wanted to be a Mommy for as long as I can remember. And now that I am, I know that I was born for this. It is surely very challenging, as being a Mom consists of many different roles and a huge responsibility. But it is all worth it. Motherhood is hands down, the best gift God has given me.

I hope all my fellow Mommas have an amazing Day!

Love

Chapultepec Castle

20120507-211740.jpg

We had a great weekend, we visited the Chapultepec Castle -in matching outfits- and then had lunch at Cafe Vida. I’ve been wanting to go to the Castle for years, literally, and yesterday my wish was finally accomplished. Now I wish for a terrace with an amazing view and black and white checkered floors!
Hope everyone had a great weekend

Watch Me Grow: Alessa month by month

I can’t believe it’s been a whole month since my last post. But what is yet more unbelievable is that in just a couple of months, you will be turning one year old. Where have the months gone? How is it possible that it’s been 10 months already since I first held you in my arms? since you were lying on my chest and we both laid our eyes on one another?

Each day I am enjoying you more and more. You’ve been doing so much awesome stuff lately: you call Daddy {Pa-paah}, and I am a little bit jealous because I’ve been trying to show you how to say Mama but when you hear me say the words, you say Pa-paah only. When I ask you to dance for me you always move your hands up and down, that is your only dance move so far, but I love it! you point things that you recognize or that I ask you to find. You make the noise of a horse, and of a duck. You have mastered crawling and do it so fast, you are very happy to be mobile. You love exploring what is inside drawers and bags, and taking every single thing out of them. You have six teeth already! your smile has changed so much since you were born, but I love it, it is just contagious.

I enjoy every minute spent with you so much. Watching you grow and develop your personality is such a delight for me. My love for you grows everyday. I know that God picked you specially for us, and you make mommy and daddy incredibly happy and bring so much beauty into our lives.

Watch Me Grow: Alessa Month by Month

I can’t believe it’s been 9 months already!!

This post is 3 days late. I actually took photos on the very twentieth but they weren’t good for my “watch me grow” keepsake photos. I’ll show you:

She spent the whole day of her 9th monthaversary crying, wanting to be held by me, but when I held her she also cried…And cried a little bit more. I was feeling a little desperate because that behavior is not typical in her. And she woke up at 3 am, 4 am and 5:40 am too. It was one of “those” exhausting motherhood days.

So we re-did the photo session today, she was happier and we ended up with nice little pictures!

have a great one!

Three Years Ago

Three years ago today, one of the happiest days of my life took place.

I promised from the deepest of my soul to the love of my life, to love him for the rest of my days. It was a beautiful ceremony in the magical town of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

And the party was a blast!!! it was a day so full of magic and emotions, that will forever be part of my dearest memories.

I never dreamed that three years later, our life would be like this. I love what life has given to us so far, parenthood was 2011′s best gift to us. And although parenthood can be a challenge for marriage, I know that we are solid rock as a couple. This year, having Alessa join in the celebration makes our anniversary even more special. We are a family now! I still pinch myself everyday to believe that this little precious being is ours.

Happy Anniversary to my handsome husband, who makes me so Happy!!!

Love,

S
